Documentation of the happening “Sweet Wall” and the activity “Testimonials”, which were organised in Berlin in 1970 and 1976 respectively by gallery Block. Performance artist Alan Kaprow and his collaborators buily ‘Sweet Wall’ near the wall dividing Berlin. Sweet Wall was built with cinder blocks and held together with bread and jam acting as mortar. Sweet Wall parodied the real Berlin Wall. 36pp. 22.8 x 15cm
Kaprow stated, “It enclosed nothing, separated no one. It was built in a desolated area close to the real Berlin Wall. The real Wall divided a city against itself… As parody, Sweet Wall was about an idea of a wall. The Berlin Wall was an idea, too.”
